Shangri-La Springs is a tranquil setting for your mind, body and spirit that originally began in 1921. The Heitman family constructed a hotel and 8 acres of land which is now known as Old Bonita. This 25 room hotel provided a unique location for potential homebuyers they were having homes built in constructed in the area.
During the depression the hotel was sold to the Haverfield family and later to Walter Mach of the Cadillac family home after elaborate remodeling Inc. spend of the hotel to 50 rooms and renamed it Villa Bonita.
In 1964 R.J Cheatham improved the 8 acres of ground surrounding the Springs and provided places for recreation and a health practice focusing on natural path eight, homeopathic medicine and osteopathic life science and metaphysics. From here, Shangri-La developed in 1993 by Leo Dahlman into a first class health resort and he restored much of the property to its original grandeur. In 1998, longtime conservationists Addison Fisher and Heather Burch acquired the property to protect the integrity of this important landmark in Bonita Springs.
In 2011 Shangri-La Springs had a grand reopening cult of the season of giving since it was during Christmas time. It provided a magical walk to the grounds, entertainment, Festival food and beverages as well is a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a VIP first look at the spa and health center.
