Bonita Springs Celebrates Patriot Day
The city of Bonita Springs is celebrating patriot day a little bit differently this year. On September 11 there will be a dedication of the September 11 Memorial and a citywide day of remembrance. This will happen Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 6 PM at the Liles Hotel Plaza located at 27300 Old US 41.
This program is hosted by the Bonita Springs Fire Control and Rescue District as well is the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and The Veterans Advisory Committee. The city of Bonita Springs is proud to present this day of remembrance with a September 11 memorial.
Anyone who was alive on September 11, 2001 will never forget this day that will live in infamy. Each year the city of Bonita Springs recognizes and honors those affected by this terrible tragedy. Last year, the city invited the public to remember the memorial service on September 11 from 9 AM to 10 PM and included a final alarm bell, a 21 gun salute and a performance from local elementary schools.
This service has been held in the past at local churches, the Riverside Park and other city locations but this year the ceremony will be at the Liles Hotel Plaza which is also a local historical center and nestled in Riverside Park. This historical society is open to the public Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM and features a variety of local exhibits, historical displays and lectures.
