Bonita Springs Makes Forbes’ List of Places to Retire
Bonita Springs recently attracted the attention of Forbes, making it on the magazine’s list of “25 Great Places to Follow Your Passions in Retirement.”
We South Floridians know Bonita is a great place to be, but we couldn’t be happier to see this kind of recognition.
Leisure Time Pursuits
The publication picked locales where retirees can follow “leisure time pursuits.” The list was published online on Feb. 12, says this Naples Daily News article.
“We identified seven broad categories for a lifestyle focusing on your personal leisure-time interests,” the story reads on Forbes’ website. “The categories are: arts, fine dining, lifetime learning, volunteering, outdoor activities on water, outdoor activities on land, and the sub-category of golf.”
Reactions from Officials
Bonita Springs Mayor Ben Nelson was happy to hear about the ranking:
“It’s really something that we’ve been working towards for a long time,” he said. “Bonita is a place where people can be really active and enjoy the things that have been created here. … We want to actually become the place where people want to be, and it looks like we succeeded.”
Christine Ross, president and CEO of the Bonita Springs Area Chamber of Commerce, agreed with the mayor’s statements.
“I think it means we are doing the right thing here in developing our community,” Ross said. “It’s gratifying to get this kind of recognition from such a world magazine.”
